Gyprock Cornice Cement is used for installing Gyprock cornice at wall and ceiling junctions where the walls and ceilings are lined with plasterboard. It is also used for finishing cornice joints and mitres and small cornice repairs. This is a fast setting cement with a working life of 50 - 60 minutes after mixed with water. It has very good initial grab and high bond strength after setting making DIY installation easy. Gyprock Cornice Cement is a low VOC dry powder compound manufactured by Gyprock in Australia to stringent product specifications.

Product Options

Gyprock Cornice Cement is available in the Gyprock DIY range in a 2.5kg bag. The Gyprock Professional range offers Cornice Cement 60 and Cornice Cement 45 in 10 and 20kg bags.

Application

Mixing

Add 2kg of Gyprock Cornice Cement to 1.1 litres of clean water and mix to a creamy consistency. Do not mix more material than can be used in 50-60 minutes.
  • Measure and cut cornice sections to exact length using a saw and mitre box or Gyprock Mitremasta™.
  • Apply generous beads (approx. 10mm) of Cornice Cement to the back of the cornice along both edges and to mitres.
  • Each section should be buttered and fixed separately, starting with shorter lengths.
  • Hold sections in place with temporary nails or screws.
  • Remove surplus Cornice Cement and clean down with a brush or sponge.
  • Smooth off mitres and fill any gaps with Cornice Cement.
  • Allow to set for at least 2 hours before removing temporary fixings and sanding joints.

What our clients say about us

Being an environmentally aware business, we needed a way to ensure, adhere and implement sustainably preferable strategies into our business plan. The team at GECA is co-operative and their guidance ensured that we not only complied with green standards, but exceeded them. The process is credible and well-received in the market place and ensures that we are set apart from the not-so-genuine ‘greenwashing’ companies.
