Superlocalstudio will be hosting a program of short talks as part of Sydney Design Festival 2018, which will respond to the theme Call to Action. The speakers represent local creative practices who combine an approach of considered and engaging design through a purpose and process that is human and nature-centred:

Hear from The Organic Tea Project about their circular design process.

Jennifer Kwok will talk about the five elements of design and nature in the urban landscape.

The Republic of Everyone will talk about Plant Life Balance, a new campaign that encourages the benefits of integrating plants into everyday life.

Waverley Council will highlight local creative and sustainable initiatives.

Julia Champtaloup will discuss her Terra Botanica photographic project which looks at everyday natural treasures in the urban landscape.

Valentina Zarew will speak on her upcoming project Simpatico, featuring how creative practices are in tune with nature.

Additionally, there will be an opportunity to visit GECA’s Materials in Mind pod, which will be located across from Superlocalstudio. The immersive and fully interactive upcycled shipping container showcases a range of beautiful, functional and sustainable building materials and furniture within the 13 square metre space, all certified to GECA’s strict standards for low environmental, health and social impact.

Superlocalstudio is a space that enables the creation of thoughtful practices. Founded by Liane Rossler, this initiative creates a place for sustainable and considered design practice, with an approach that engages art, design, environment and culture. They have also taken GECA’s Positive Procurement Pledge and committed publicly to developing and implementing a sustainable procurement policy that will do good for our planet and the people on it.
