    3 Apr 2014 1:13 am

This week’s GECA spotlight is on steel storage furniture manufacturer Planex. The specialist furniture producers are 100% Australian owned, and they have “one of the most advanced sheet steel manufacturing facilities” in the country. All products are fully manufactured using local raw materials in their Melbourne facility.

Planex use world best practices and are ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certified. They have several furniture items certified under GECA’s Furniture, Fittings and Foam 2010 v2.1 standard, including a planter box range, pedestals, book cases, file units, door units and several other storage solutions for the office.

Planex has a strong focus on design running throughout their company, from collaborating with local designers Paul Morris and Alexander Lotersztain, to offering design scholarships for UNSW COFA students. Products can be customised to suit customer needs and offer a choice of over 140 colour options.

Their products meet GECA’s standards for low volatile organic compound and formaldehyde emissions, preventing indoor air pollution. They also have a lower impact on the environment by only using sustainably-sourced materials and making their furniture easier to recycle. GECA certification means that all of Planex’s certified products contribute maximum points towards Green Star projects, making them a good choice for an environmentally-preferable office fitout.
