    5 Aug 2013 9:25 am

This week sees some exciting news from GECA licensee, Havwoods. Top international fashion and design house Marimekko recently opened two stores, one in the hub of Sydney and the other in Melbourne, using GECA certified Europlank timber flooring from Havwoods.

“Havwoods is extremely excited to be associated with Saturday Studio and the Marimekko stores in Australia,” says Marcus Hickson, business development manager for Havwoods.

“Marimekko is a global company who has selected Havwoods’ products for their new stores in Australia making this a very exciting development. This is particularly emphasised by the fact the designers found our products the most stable and durable.

“Furthermore, Havwoods’ Europlank products are GECA certified, meaning the process used in the manufacture of these products is less harmful to our environment. Havwoods’ Europlank is both a robust choice as well as an environmentally friendly one.”

Havwoods’ Europlank range is becoming increasingly popular with many specifiers selecting it for use with walls and ceilings as well as floors. 14.5mm thick with a 4mm wear layer which allows for re-sanding when required, the boards are dimensionally stable and climate proof thanks to a cross-glued, multi-layer backing board. The Uniclic tongue and groove system makes for easy installation and all boards are pre-finished with a tough matt or satin lacquer so the end result is pre-determined.

Under the GECA floor coverings standard the Europlank range also gains Level A Green Star recognition by the Green Building Council of Australia.
