A new draft version of GECA’s standard for cleaning products is now available for public comment!
Cleaning products are essential for healthy and appealing living and working conditions. However, they can also negatively impact human health and the environment. To determine whether a cleaning product is truly sustainable or not, you need to look at its entire lifecycle. That means from sourcing raw materials and the manufacturing process to use and finally, its ultimate disposal.
That’s why GECA created a lifecycle ecolabel standard to define good environmental and social performance benchmarks for the following categories of cleaning products:
• General-purpose cleaners
• Sanitary cleaners
• Laundry cleaning agents
• Hand dishwashing detergents
• Machine dishwashing detergents
• Products for use in short-cycle commercial dishwashers
• Fabric Softeners
• Stain removers
• Rinsing agents
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, each standard is subject to a transparent and comprehensive review process, including consultation with our technical advisory group (TAG). GECA now welcomes comments on the Cleaning Products (CPv3.0-2022) standard from the public and industry professionals until 10 May 2022.
