A new draft version of GECA’s standard for carpets is now available for public comment! This standard identifies the significant impacts of the product category and sets specific requirements for performance, material content, adhesives, emissions, water consumption, energy use, and criteria for minimising waste.

The Carpets (Cv3.0-2020) standard applies to the following types of broadloom and modular tile carpets:

🔘 Natural fibre carpets such as wool

🔘 Synthetic polymer fibre carpets comprising nylon and nylon blends, olefin (polypropylene), polyester, acrylic, polyamide and polyethylene terephthalate (PET)

🔘 Blends composed of materials that fit into the above fibre types

GECA welcomes comments on the standard from the public and industry professionals until 12 February 2021. A draft copy of the standard is available here. Please submit comments and feedback to standards@geca.org.au or +61 (2) 9699 2850.
