The Business Council of Sustainable Development (BCSD) Australia, of which GECA is a proud member, is launching the first-ever survey on Australian business sentiment and its long-term plans to drive transformative change across their business operations and impacts on society.
The Business Mindset Survey, a collaboration between BCSD Australia and the University of Sydney, will investigate the beliefs and practices that shape the way Australian businesses perform as they seek to remain sustainable in a rapidly changing business environment.
The survey comes after the World Business Council for Sustainable Development released its Vision 2025: Time to Transform report, outlining a framework to guide business action through nine transformation pathways covering the areas of business activity that are essential to society: energy; transportation and mobility; living spaces; products and materials; financial products and services; connectivity; health and wellbeing; water and sanitation; and food.
“There is a huge shift in the business world towards sustainable practices. We are seeing the business environment in Australia also responding very rapidly – decarbonisation plans, assessing circularity opportunities across their supply chain and product portfolio, establishing business cases for integrating nature conservation across a company, to name just three – so it’s important to understand and share what business leaders and decision-makers are doing to ensure they are developing and implementing strategies that build long-term sustainable success,” said Andrew Petersen, CEO of BCSD Australia.
The survey, which BCSD Australia research intern Ross Letz is conducting, focuses on the responses from senior business leaders and sustainability professionals across all sectors around Australia who want to make a positive long-term impact. The survey is anonymous, and all responses will remain confidential.
BCSD Australia will announce the survey results at their annual Fiona Wain Oration on 27 May.
