The Jacob takes inspiration from Koskela’s iconic Jake chair with its tubular steel frame that can be powder coated in a range of Koskela colours.
When designing Jacob, we upped the sustainability stakes. Koskela’s industrial designers took up the challenge of making Jacob’s components repairable or replaceable, so the product can be maintained over time. A major innovation is the removable covers, which is a unique feature for this type of product within the market. Easily removed, the covers can be regularly dry-cleaned and after several years replaced, to keep the product in tip-top condition.
This contrasting steel frame is the base for the soft upholstered Jacob family, which can be adapted for various types of contemporary working environments. Available in most commercial-grade fabrics, the upholstery features a thick piping detail.
The original product is a sofa available in a standard, midback and highback version. The midback and highback have an extended back and sides. As well as offering visual and acoustic separation, this has a cocooning effect, which is ideal for seclusion in open-plan spaces.
To further develop this concept, we created the Jacob Hideaway.
The Hideaway integrates desking with the Jacob midback or highback. Swap plush cushions for a laminate work surface and you have an upholstered workstation. It’s also available as a Return, which extends the size of the workstation by adding a rear wall with an inbuilt shelf.
Power and data can be integrated into each workstation, with standard provision for cable reticulation through the wall system.
Add-on accessories enhance the functionality of the Hideaway. A small shelf, large shelf, bag hook and whiteboard are all available.
The Hideaway is ideal for focused individual work.
This is a modular product that can be multiplied up to six times as standard. This is the Return highback version for one person.
By utilising the soft upholstered wall panels, the Hideaway can be customised to create endless configurations that can be re-adapted depending on an organisation’s needs. Contact your Contract representative to discuss the possibilities.
