One of Koskela’s most popular products, the Quadrant Soft sofa, is available as part of the Learn by Koskela range.
We have renamed it Ngalawa, in line with our commitment to use Aboriginal language words to name all the Learn by Koskela products. Ngalawa is from the Dharug Aboriginal language and means sit.
The Ngalawa is a modular sofa comprising of three building blocks: Single, Double and Corner. The Corner is the key component for configuring a big sofa that seats 6 or more because it enables the sofa to go sideways as well as lengthways.
Made from dense foam, which negates the need for a timber frame, this sofa is very lightweight and manoeuvrable. People love how easy it is to change its configuration depending on the needs of the day.
The Ngalawa is upholstered in a heavy-duty commercial-grade fabric with added stain protection so it will maintain good condition over time. The covers can also be taken off for professional cleaning, and after several years can be replaced to keep the product looking like new.
Available in four colours that are inspired by the Australian landscape: Bamal (Earth), Burran (Stingybark), Daramu (Tree), Badu (Water). Each component comes in a tonal variation of that colour. So, if you order a Ngalawa setting, we recommend ordering in one colour, but it will comprise of four different tones. This is intended to mimic nature and is part of the biophilic design thinking that underpins the Learn by Koskela range. Studies have shown the adoption of biophilic design has a positive effect on student engagement and wellbeing.
Thousands of Quadrant Soft sofas have been specified for breakout spaces in workplaces and universities and we believe this product is an ideal fit for school libraries and common rooms.

What our clients say about us

Being an environmentally aware business, we needed a way to ensure, adhere and implement sustainably preferable strategies into our business plan. The team at GECA is co-operative and their guidance ensured that we not only complied with green standards, but exceeded them. The process is credible and well-received in the market place and ensures that we are set apart from the not-so-genuine ‘greenwashing’ companies.

Fitting out such a large project with sustainably preferable furniture is rewarding. That a well-renowned and international company would choose to use GECA certified Office Link Group furniture is exciting and without doubt, a step in the right direction for improving sustainability in the workplace. The whole work zone looks great — the architect has done a wonderful job of creating the space. With the addition of the sustainably preferable products that are proven to improve the health and wellbeing of those in the workspace, it is now a really nice place to work.
