  • Join GECA in Driving the Transition to a Circular Economy at AWRE 2024

    28 May 2024 3:47 pm

The Australasian Waste and Recycling Expo (AWRE) brings together policymakers, professionals, educators, and industry thought leaders to share ideas and solutions for a cleaner, more sustainable future. GECA is proud to be a supporting partner of AWRE.

The event makes a welcome return as Australians grapple with the increasing complexities surrounding waste and recycling. While the recycling rate in Australia is improving, the amount of waste we’re generating continues to increase as our population grows, according to the 2022 National Waste Report.

AWRE 2024 will serve as a forum for leaders and professionals in the waste and recycling industry to convene, showcase and discover the latest innovations and collaborate on initiatives to reduce Australia’s waste production and move toward a more circular future.

The two-day live event features inspiring talks from leading experts in the sector, including Suzanne Toumbouro, CEO of the Australian Council of Recycling, and Brett Lemin, Executive Director of Waste Contractors & Recyclers Association of NSW. It helps form new connections and develop strategies for a more sustainable and profitable economy.

On day one, GECA’s CEO, Josh Begbie, will participate in – The Role Buildings Play in Australia’s Circular Economy panel discussion alongside Global Greentag and WSP, moderated by Alexandra Lomo Melian from NABERS.

    Join us as we explore,

    • How to design for the best outcomes in all areas – whether that’s operational or C&D waste.

    • Connecting all actors in the waste and resource recovery value chain.

    • And how all of this leads to better data, which directly impacts planning and outcomes.

“We’re at a critical time when the decisions we make can have a real impact on the future of our environment and economy,” said Ali Lawes, Event Director of AWRE.

As well as speaking, GECA will be exhibiting over both days. The exhibition space is a critical opportunity for GECA’s licensees to showcase their innovation and leadership in waste management, recycled products and other circular solutions. By mentioning their GECA certification when applying to exhibit, our licensees will receive an exclusive discounted rate of 10% off their exhibition space.

“AWRE is an opportunity for the brightest minds in recycling and waste innovation across Australasia to come together, discuss the actions and find the solutions we need to implement today to build a brighter tomorrow. We look forward to seeing our returning attendees and new faces in Sydney this year and opening the floor for dynamic conversation.”
